Talon Roles Communication - December 2025
We are excited that Talon, Tennessee Tech’s new cloud-based platform for Human Resources, Finance, Procurement and Payroll, will be active when campus reopens on Monday, January 5, 2026. This marks a major milestone in our journey toward operational excellence and improved campus services.
How to Access Talon
- On January 5, you will be able to access your Talon account directly through a link on Tech Express. You will log into Talon via SSO – you can view this knowledge article for support.
Role Mapping and Access
- We have mapped each user’s role in Talon as closely as possible to your current state. Our goal is to ensure a seamless transition and minimize disruptions to your daily work. One of the new roles within Talon is a Line Manager, which is equivalent to a supervisor in current state.
- Line Manager is a role with privileges to manage and view information for their direct and indirect reports within Talon. This includes, but is not limited to, managing performance and goals, handling time and absence, and accessing detailed talent information like competencies and career development plans for their team.
Support and Resources
- If you notice your role is incorrect or you are missing particular access, please visit the Self-Service Portal to submit a ticket starting on January 5th. This portal allows you to request changes, troubleshoot issues, and check the status of your requests.
- The Self-Service Portal Knowledge Base includes step-by-step job aids, Quick Reference Guides, and tutorial videos to support you. Over 100+ articles are planned to be published, so bookmark the portal and revisit it often for updates.
- Training sessions and office hours will be available through December 18th and after the holiday break during January and beyond to help you get comfortable with Talon.
