Industry-Immersed Certificates

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to take the GMAT/GRE?

No. Our admission review committee considers professional work experience, graduate, and undergraduate education in assessing a candidate's eligibility for admission. Additionally, Tennessee Tech students who have a 3.0 GPA overall, and in their major fully meet the requirements for admission.

  • What is the deadline for admission to a certificate program?

Students who are interested in pursuing a certificate must meet all of the admissions requirements of the MBA program.

  • How do I apply for a certificate program/which application should I submit?

Students who wish to pursue an industry-immersed certificate should submit the same online application used to admit students for the online MBA program. However, students should indicate on the application that they are interested in the industry-immersed certificate program by checking the appropriate box on the application.

  • What are the benefits of pursuing a certificate?

The industry-focused graduate certificates are designed specifically with working professionals in mind. The certificates allow students to count relevant graduate coursework toward both the MBA or MAcc, as well as a 15-hour certificate. The certificates are designed to be flexible, affordable, and convenient. Each certificate is available 100% online with no pre-requisite courses required. Utilizing nearly two decades of experience in online learning, Tennessee Tech designed the industry-focused certificates to allow students to further specialize in their fields. Certificates may be obtained  prior to, concurrently, or following an MBA or MAcc degree.

  • How many courses are in a certificate track?

Each certificate consists of five courses (15 total hours).  Two of the courses (6 credit hours) may count toward MBA elective credit, leaving only three courses (9 hours) to complete after the MBA or MAcc programs.

  • Do I have to get an MBA to get a certificate?

No. Students may pursue a graduate certificate through the College of Business at Tennessee Tech before, after, or concurrently with an MBA or MAcc degree.
