    Important Changes For HOPE Scholarship Recipients

    Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program (TELS) 

    The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship Program provides scholarship and grant assistance to Tennesseans attending eligible Tennessee colleges. 

    Effective Fall 2023, any TELS eligible student who graduates with their baccalaureate degree from an eligible Tennessee college/university on-or-after July 1, 2023 AND has not reached the maximum 5 year TELS program completion limit AND immediately enrolls in an eligible advanced degree program (i.e. Masters or Doctoral) the semester after receiving baccalaureate degree MAY be eligible to receive TELS funds while working on an advanced degree program (i.e. Masters or Doctoral). Contact Financial Aid immediately to find out if you are eligible for this exciting opportunity to receive the HOPE scholarship for your graduate degree.

    Students must apply for readmission when a gap occurs in attendance (excludes summer).  Students should reapply through the student portal.

    IRB For Protection of Human Subjects

    All research involving human subjects require approval from the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects.  The Research & Economic Development provides additional information regarding IRB. 

    Program of Study Forms

    All students conducting research and writing a thesis must be assigned an advisory committee.  The Appointment of the Advisory Committee / Admission to Candidacy Application form is available below. A program of study worksheet is not required by COGS but may be used by the advisor in establishing a degree plan.

    With the implementation of Degree Works, all programs of study are automatically populated upon admission.  Below are the detailed program of study worksheets for use by departments.     Graduation Forms

    In addition to satisfying all degree requirements, a candidate for a degree must submit an Application for Graduation using Tech Express. In Tech Express, select Eagle Online, then the Student menu, and then the Student Records menu. Select the Graduate Studies application, confirm your latest enrollment semester, and select the program you are graduating with. If you are earning both a degree and a certificate, you must apply to graduate for each program separately.

    A graduate student must be enrolled during the term in which the degree is awarded. If you need to change your graduation semester, please complete the following form: Change of Graduation Term Request 

    Due dates for the submission of the application are as follows:

    Summer — February 1st*
    Fall — June 1st
    Spring — September 1st

    The next graduation date you may apply to is Spring 2024: The late application for graduation for the Spring 2024 semester is currently available.

    Certificate earners do not participate in the University commencement ceremony. Certificate students may attend the end of term activities that may be held in their respective college.

    Summer Commencement Ceremonies

    There is not a commencement ceremony for those graduating in August. Students who wish to participate will be allowed to return to the University for the December commencement ceremony.
