** Please review your DegreeWorks audit in Eagle Online to ensure that your catalog term, major, and concentration (if required) are correct. **

Students who entered their major Summer 2011 and later will have an audit available in DegreeWorks. Changes in catalog term, major, concentration or minor will not be processed by the Registrar’s Office staff after an application has been submitted.

Verify your catalog term. The audit will show the catalog year (Fall 2011 forward) that you entered the major. If your catalog term is not correct, meet with your academic advisor and request that he/she submit a program of study change request that is available in Eagle Online. Please wait until the form has been processed by the Registrar’s Office before applying for graduation.

If your major or concentration is not correct, meet with your academic advisor and request that he/she submit a program of study change request that is available in Eagle Online. Please wait until the form has been processed by the Registrar’s Office before applying for graduation.

If you plan to seek a minor and have not declared it, meet with your academic advisor and request that he/she submit a program of study change request that is available in Eagle Online. The online application does not include a field to provide this information. Please wait until the form has been processed by the Registrar’s Office before applying for graduation.
*Students majoring in Agriculture and Human Ecology who entered prior to Fall 2013 will have a catalog year of Fall 2013 due to the restructuring of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences.  Students majoring in art and music who entered prior to Fall 2017 will have a catalog term of Fall 2017 due to the creation of the College of Fine Arts and students who are majoring in psychology will have a catalog term of Fall 2017 or later due to the program moving from from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Education.

∇   When applying for graduation, note that all students must complete the general requirements as prescribed by the University and the specific requirements set forth for the degree sought. To view and follow your requirements, visit our Catalog. Remember to keep in mind:

A minimum of 120 hours is required. In order to meet the residence requirements, a student must complete at least 25 percent of the credit for the degree requirements including a minimum of 24 of the last 30 hours of 3000 and 4000 level requirements at Tennessee Technological University.
A student must have a 2.00 GPA overall and a 2.00 average in the major. Transfer students must also have a 2.00 GPA in their Tennessee Tech overall average and a 2.00 GPA in the Tennessee Tech major average.
Undergraduate students may be required, as a prerequisite to graduation, to take one or more tests designed to measure general education achievement and achievement in the major areas for the purpose of evaluating academic programs.
∇   Complete a degree analysis. A degree analysis that lists all remaining requirements for completion of your academic program will be uploaded to your Eagle Online account after your application for graduation is processed. From there, an email is sent to you at your tntech.edu account and also to your primary academic advisor as soon as possible after your analysis is available. All applications are processed in the order in which they were received to complete the analysis.

Meet with your advisor regarding any remaining requirements and submit any necessary forms to the Graduation Office as soon as possible. All degree requirements, both general and specific, must be fulfilled prior to graduation. If there is any change in your graduation status, please notify our office immediately!

∇   Graduation coursework and requirement deadlines are crucial. Be sure that all coursework for undergraduate degrees are completed and grades are submitted by the Monday following commencement. Incomplete grade removals are due on the Friday before exams begin for graduating students.

Students taking coursework at other colleges must have the official transcript sent to the Graduation Office no later than 2 weeks after the graduation date. Any transcripts received late will be considered for the next semester's graduation.

∇   Complete your Senior Exit Exam (offered through your college). This is the only exam that is required of all undergraduates who plan to graduate. Contact your department for exam specifics:

College of Agriculture and Human Ecology

College of Arts and Sciences

College of Business

College of Education

College of Engineering

College of Interdisciplinary Studies

School of Nursing

∇   Good news! Graduation fees are now included with the general access fee, so no worries about where to make payment on this one.

∇   Graduation with Honors is determined by the cumulative GPA (all Tennessee Tech and transfer degree credit courses) at the beginning of the final semester of enrollment.

Cum Laude: 3.50 – 3.69
Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 – 3.89
Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 – 4.00
W.A.Howard Award : 4.00

(These honors are only available for undergraduate degrees).

The Honors notation on the diploma and on the transcript is determined by the inclusive combined GPA on all degree-credit courses at the end of the final semester. Honors cords/stoles/sashes may be available through the individual honor societies of which you may be a member of on campus and must be obtained directly through those respective parties. The University does not supply them.

∇   Course substitutions must be approved by the department chairperson and the dean of the college. If the substitution is for a course that meets General Education Requirements (and is not already an approved General Education course) the signature of the Chairperson for the General Education Committee must be obtained before being submitted to the Graduation Office.

Commencement and Confidentiality of Student Records

To have your name appear in the printed Commencement Program, your online registration request must be submitted by the official submission deadline.

If a Nondisclosure of Directory Information request is on file, the University will not release the candidate’s name for any commencement publications that are made available to the public. This can include: proofs of gradation photos, hometown news releases, commencement program, etc. The candidate can request the removal of the nondisclosure request by logging into Eagle Online and removing the “Confidential Flag” on the student record.
