Honors Academic Scholarship (HAS)
The HAS is now open for the 27-28 academic year. Eligible new applicants are reviewed
holistically and awarded on a rolling basis until funding is expended, so apply soon
to be considered!
The Honors Academic Scholarship (HAS) assists selected Honors student recipients in covering their out-of-state tuition, including students who live in other states in the U.S. and international students. Acceptance to Honors does not guarantee that an applicant for the HAS will receive the scholarship, as it is a selective scholarship awarded competitively. Please review the information below before applying.
What does this scholarship cover?
The HAS covers the out-of-state portion of tuition and fees for selected Honors students.
The HAS does not serve as a supplement or alternative to athletic scholarships or other forms of funding; it is intended to serve students committed to Honors education as reflected in their range of intellectual curiosity, hard work, personal integrity, and service within a community of scholars.

Preparing to Apply
If you are interested in fully participating in the Tech Honors Program, and wish to apply for the Honors Academic Scholarship, you (the student) must personally complete the following steps, in order:
- Read about the Honors Program by exploring our website. Only Honors students receive the HAS, and the Honors Program is not the right match for everyone. Determine whether or not you will succeed in our Program before applying.
- Apply to the Honors Program. See our Admissions page to apply to the Honors Program. Only the applicant should work on the application, without the help of others or generative applications (such as Chat GPT, Gemini, etc.).
- Monitor your Tech email for an acceptance to the Honors Program. If you are eligible for the HAS and are accepted into the Honors Program, we will send you a congratulatory email that will include information about how to apply for the HAS. Note: Not everyone that is eligible and applies to the Honors Program will be accepted.
- Apply for the HAS in ScholarWeb by the posted deadline. Applicants that do not complete the HAS in its entirety (including providing at least two Letters of Recommendation) will not be considered. It is the applicant's responsibility to monitor their recommenders' progress.
- Monitor your Tech email for an HAS offer. If you do receive the HAS, we will send you a congratulatory email that will include information about how to proceed with accepting the offer. Note: Not all eligible Honors students will receive the HAS.
