Ashraf Islam Engineering Building

The new engineering building will be the first new engineering facility at Tech in 50
years, since Prescott Hall was completed in 1971. It will be a showcase for Tech’s flagship
College of Engineering and will be a student-centered interdisciplinary smart building
used by all departments in the college. The new 100,000-square-foot engineering building is an investment in Tech’s future and will allow the university to continue to provide a quality engineering education.

The university broke ground on this new facility in summer 2021.

“Our students already have a reputation of being ready to hit the ground running when they get out into the workforce. We want to maintain and build on that reputation and ensure that our students are on the cutting edge of graduates in the workforce needs of tomorrow, and that includes a much greater degree of interoperability between people of different backgrounds and fields. Graduates need to have a holistic education that brings in a multidisciplinary understanding, and this building is going to ensure that happens.”
