Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers contribute to the preservation and accessibility of the Hollister Herbarium’s permanent collection. Projects are supervised by herbarium personnel, and training is provided. No previous herbarium experience is required for most activities.
Opportunities include:
- Mounting new specimens
- Repairing and rehousing specimens
- Transcribing specimen labels
- Digitizing and quality-checking records
- Filing specimens
- Assisting with public programs and exhibitions
- Photographing specimens
- Participating in approved collecting activities
Volunteer participation is arranged in advance and depends on current project needs, available supervision, and collection-handling requirements.
