What is String Project?

Founded in 2015, The Tennessee Tech String Project exists to provide area children grades 3-12 with excellent string instrument instruction. The String Project, originally geared to 3rd through 6th grade students from across the region, has now grown to include advanced classes for 7th through 12th graders. The String Project classes are on Monday afternoons during the Fall and Spring Tech semesters.

Each week, under the guidance of the Tennessee Tech faculty master teacher, the students will work in small instrument groups led by Tennessee Tech music education string majors/students. They will also participate in larger ensembles, giving them an orchestral experience, led by the master teacher.

The String Project is a collaboration between Tennessee Tech, The Bryan Symphony Orchestra, and Putnam County Schools.

Individual Attention & More

  • Classes focus on the specific technique required for each individual instrument.
  • Small class size ensure that each student gets the individual attention needed to excel on the string instrument. These smaller classes are taught by Tennessee Tech Music Education students supervised by the master teacher.
  • All string students participating in the project have an ensemble experience each week. This combined ensemble will be led by the master teacher.

String Project meets Monday afternoons and evenings in the Bryan Fine Arts Building on the Tennessee Tech campus.

Classes will meet Mondays 3:45 pm - 7:30 pm
3:45 pm - 5:30 pm - Beginner / Intermediate
