Reinforce Advanced Math Placement (RAMP) program

The Reinforce Advanced Math Placement (RAMP) program is a summer math bridge program designed to help incoming first-year students with an ACT Math score of 28 or below in advancing their math readiness prior to starting their Fall term. The program includes structured math and engineering preparation activities combined with social and cultural events to help students gain the skills and confidence needed for success in college.

After participating in the RAMP program, students can take the ALEKS PPL Challenge Assessment. Highly successful participants test above their prior placement scores and begin their Fall terms in one math course beyond their current math placement. Since the program started in 2023, 65 percent of participants each year improved their math placement. Math instruction is tailored to the course level needed for each student.

Eligibility

Students that meet the following requirements are eligible to participate in this program:

• Incoming freshmen with an intention to major in one of the disciplines offered by the College of Engineering.
• ACT Math scores 28 and below or SAT Math scores of 660 or below.

Schedule

• August 9-14, 2026
• Check-in to residence hall: August 9, 2026. 
• Program activities: August 10-14, 2026
• ALEKS PPL Placement Test/Challenge Assessment August 14, 2026
• Application deadline: July 15, 2026

Cost

There is an $80 attendance fee as well as a $25 fee for ALEKS PPL collected at the time of account creation.

If you are accepted into this program, we will communicate with you about deadlines for the attendance fee.
