Becoming Fluent in the Language of Business.
Comprehensive business fluency can only be accomplished through the diligent study and application of economics. Economics examines how individuals, businesses, and organizations make decisions regarding the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services within a society. The study of economics is unique and valuable in the sense that it approaches both macro and micro business concepts utilizing a social and behavioral science perspective. Throughout our economics programs, TTU’s EFM (Economics, Finance, and Marketing) students expand their ability to think logically and critically and ultimately master the art of adapting in an ever-changing economic environment. TTU’s experienced faculty is motivated to help the TTU College of Business students achieve their academic and professional aspirations and build a firm foundation for a future career.
The Society for the Advancement of Finance and Economics (SAFE) is a professional network dedicated to research in various fields of finance. On campus SAFE activities include guest lectures, fund-raisers, and social events. The society helps coordinate the internship program and provides tutoring services to students in finance and economics related courses.
Omicron Delta Epsilon is the international honor society for economics students. Omicron Delta Epsilon recognizes academic excellence and achievements in the field of economics; establishes relationships between students and faculty in economics programs within universities; publishes their journal The American Economist, sponsors panels at professional meetings; and hosts research competitions. Economics, finance, and agricultural economics majors may become members by invitation. Juniors and seniors with a 3.0 QPA in at least twelve semester hours of economics courses are considered for membership.
Participating in research with faculty is an extremely beneficial opportunity for student involvement. There are available grants for summer research students in which they can pursue research topic with a faculty member and attend a conference to present the completed research. If you are interested in research in any economics field, please contact Dr. Sean Alley for more information.
