Overview
Tennessee Tech utilizes Ellucian's Banner suite as its student information system (SIS). Self-Service Banner (SSB) is the web-based application users (faculty, staff, and students) interact with to access basic functions of the system. SSB allows students, faculty, and staff to navigate processes and access various course and student -related information. Some functions include class registration, courses, viewing student records, accessing and viewing financial aid information, and more. The Tennessee Tech community refers to its iteration of SSB as "Eagle Online" and it is accessible via Tech Express (campus portal).
Tennessee Tech University is in the process of transitioning Eagle Online from Self-Service Banner version 8 (SSB 8) to Self-Service Banner version 9 (SSB 9). In addition to new functionality, one of the advantages of SSB 9 is that it also offers a fresh, new interface with more streamline tools.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we upgrading to SSB 9?
This update will replace SSB 8 support as it enters discontinuation. With SSB 9, there will be an overall improvement to browser compatibility issues, reduce security threats, and enhance overall accessibility. Additionally, the user interface and basic functions will be consolidated into more concise, accessible screens and workflows.
When will SSB 9 be live in production, will Banner 8 Self-Service be disabled
immediately?
Eventually, the plan is to redirect all SSB 8 links directly to SSB 9. However, there are still ongoing releases for the Student functionality of SSB 9, so we are releasing the Faculty and Advisor functionality ahead of the full SSB 9 Student release. Some SSB 9 links will still point back to SSB 8 during this time, so some features will still look the same and remain unchanged while others may be deprecated in anticipation of the full release.
Tennessee Tech is still working with other Tennessee peer institutions, Ellucian, and the Tennessee Board of Regents systems on testing and vetting upgrades and releases to the system.
