About the Counseling Center

The TN Tech Counseling Center offers brief, short term, solution focused therapeutic interventions for TN Tech University Students. The staff of the Counseling Center is available to assist students with their personal and social concerns in hopes of helping them achieve satisfying educational and life experiences. There are a variety of groups and workshops that are offered throughout the school year. Services offered by the Counseling Center are free for enrolled students of TN Tech and are confidential.

As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, the Counseling Center's mission is to promote healthy student development during the college experience. In our efforts to accomplish this, the Counseling Center offers a wide range of mental health, educational, and consultative services to students and other members of the campus community.

Scheduling Appointments

To schedule an appointment, contact our office by phone (931-372-3331), you may click Eagle Wellness Portal,  or stop by the office located in Room 307 of the Roaden University Center.

The staff members of the TN Tech Counseling Center respectfully request that you not use email to schedule an appointment. This is because the confidentiality of email cannot be guaranteed and also because we do not maintain 24-hour access to e-mail accounts. We may only check email once per day and not on weekends or when away from the office. For all of these reasons, it is our policy not to schedule appointments via e-mail.

#HopeStrongEagles Prevention Program

The Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center in Cookeville, TN, received a three-year $278,466 campus suicide prevention grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) Division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This funding will go toward initiating the “#hopestrongeagles” Suicide Prevention Program. The Suicide Prevention Program will be available to any TN Tech University student who needs the program’s services, and was developed by Christina Mick, Ed.D.,Assistant Director of Clinical Services at the Counseling Center. Dr. Mick worked diligently with the assistance of TN Tech University Research & Economic Development to acquire the funding for this very competitive grant. The program officially kicked off October 1, 2015 on the TN Tech University campus.  The Grant ended on September 30, 2018, but the #HopeStrongEagles program has been sustained.

The TN Tech Counseling Center has its own Eagle Eye After Hours Crisis Hotline.  This hotline is free, confidential and available to TN Tech students. TN Tech Students can access this hotline weekdays after 4:30pm, weekends and holidays in cases of mental health emergencies.
