Appiah-Kubi comes to Tennessee Tech from the University of Dayton, where he served for 11 years in several leadership roles, including director of graduate programs, undergraduate program coordinator, and inaugural director of the multidisciplinary Stitt Scholars Entrepreneurial Program—a joint initiative between the School of Engineering and the School of Business Administration that fostered experiential learning and innovation among students, alumni and industry partners.
In addition to his academic leadership, Appiah-Kubi brings extensive industry experience across government and private sectors. His research and scholarship encompass transportation, supply chain management, resource allocation, engineering education, healthcare, manufacturing, data analytics and human factors.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial and Systems Engineering, a Master of Science in Aviation Systems and Flight Testing, and a graduate certificate in engineering management. He also serves as an ABET program evaluator and has a distinguished record of program development, mentorship and industry collaboration.
"Dr. Appiah-Kubi is deeply committed to advancing interdisciplinary innovation and preparing students for the evolving demands of the workforce," said College of Engineering Dean Joseph C. Slater, Ph.D., P.E. "With growing enrollment in engineering technology, our Master of Science in Engineering Management program, the launch of a new Master of Science in Industrial Systems Engineering this fall and a new building on the way, the MISE department is well-positioned for a bright future."
