Cite Research

Why Cite?

Citation is REQUIRED whenever you borrow ideas and concepts from someone else. If you do not cite other people's ideas, you are plagiarizing, which is a violation of copyright. Tennessee Tech Policy 217 addresses plagiarism for Tech students and potential disciplinary actions.

There are two types of citations:

In-Text Citations
This is how you indicate where an idea or quotation came from within the text of your paper. The format of these citations can vary depending on which citation style you are using.

Works Cited Page
This is the page at the end where you list all the sources that contributed to your paper. This page is formatted differently depending on which citation style you are using.
