Residence Hall Room Selection

In the spring, current residents in the residence halls can participate in the residence hall room selection process. During this process, residents will prepare for the upcoming fall semester by:

1. 1. Filling out a housing application for fall
   2. Selecting a roommate (if applicable)
   3. Renewing your current bed space (if you choose)
   4. Choosing a new room during your designated time slot

  February 16, 2022	NA	2022-2023 Residence Hall Applications Open for Current Students At 12pm central time, start filling out your application profile and searching for roommates, if applicable for the residence halls. Priority given to current students who apply by February 27. *If interested in Tech Village for the summer or fall, please refer to Tech Village Room Selection.
  February 16, 2022	February 22, 2022	Roommate Selection for Current Students Search for a roommate, if applicable, and invite someone to join your roommate group.  NOTE: If you plan to renew your same bed space, you will need to work with your current roommate (if you have one) to decide whether they will remain your roommate or not so you can figure who will be in your roommate group.
  February 23, 2022	February 27, 2022	Renew Bed Space for Current Students If you want to keep your same room, you will be able to reserve your current bed space for the 2022-23 academic year.
  March 1, 2022	March 11, 2022	Room Selection for Current Students Priority period for current residence hall students to have the opportunity to select rooms in the residence halls if they did not renew their bed space. Time slots will be given and will be based on application completion date.
  March 14, 2022	May 8, 2022	Open Requests  With room selection complete, applications open again and current students who missed an opportunity can apply for the 2022-23 academic year and/or select a room in the residence halls. Also, if current students need to change the room they already chose, they can login to the application again and do so.
  May 9, 2022	May 13, 2022	Room Selection for New Students Priority period for new students to have the opportunity to select their rooms based on time slot sent to them via email. Applications will close for current students during this time.
  May 16, 2022	August 18, 2022	Open Requests Resumes Housing application is now fully open for new students and current residence hall students to apply, select a room, or change the room they already chose.

Starting a Housing Application › 

When applications go live via the housing application portal, make sure to login and begin to fill out your application. Its important that you start this as soon as possible. There is a contract section of this application called the Online Housing Agreement. That section must be finished in order to be eligible to make your room selection.

Choosing a Roommate ›

In the housing portal, you can search for other students who have completed an application to see if they want to be roommates. You can send an invite, message, and view the other student's housing profile from their application. Once an invite is accepted, a roommate group is formed. This allows you to assign that student as your roommate during the room selection period (or visa versa).

NOTE: If you are planning on renewing your current bed space, you do not need to create a roommate group. You will only need to create a roommate group if you are choosing a new room and want to find a new roommate to live with you in that room. (Exceptions to this would be engineers grouped with a non-engineer trying to pull the non-engineer into Maddux/McCord Hall since it is strictly for engineers.)

Renewing Your Current Room ›

If you're happy where you currently live in the halls, then you have the option to renew your bed space for the following academic year during contract renewal. Simply confirm the renewal of your current bed space and you will have locked in your current room. If you commit to renewing your bed space, you're done with contract renewal at this point.

NOTE: You cannot renew your bed space if: you are in an ADA room and you do not have a previous housing accommodation; or you live in a specialty hall (such as Maddux/McCord for engineers, or Murphy for Honors) and you are not an engineering student or Honors student.

Choosing a Different Room ›

If you're not happy where you're currently live in the halls, then you can select a new room during the room selection period. If you have completed the Online Agreement section of your housing application, you will be issued a time slot via email that will allow you to go in at that designated time and choose a room. The time slot will be good from that time until the end of room selection.

Once the room selection period ends, the next available opportunity to select a room will be during the "Open Request" period.

Open Requests ›

The open request period is for any students that missed an opportunity to select a room. You can go in at this point and fill out an application (if you haven't already) and choose from the remaining list of rooms that are available.

Tech Village Room Selection

In the spring, current residents in Tech Village participate in the Tech Village room selection process. Students living in the residence halls that want to live in Tech Village are allowed to participate as well. During this process, residents will prepare for the upcoming summer/fall semester by:

1. 1. Filling out a Tech Village housing application for summer, fall, or both
   2. Being assigned an open apartment based on your preferences and availability
   3. NOTE: Apartments are based on availability

  January 17, 2022	February 4, 2022	Complete Intent to Return Form Current Tech Village residents must complete their Intent to Return before they can apply for Tech Village for next year.
  February 16, 2022	NA	2022-2023 Tech Village Applications Open for Current Students At 12pm central time, Current housing students can start filling out their Tech Village apartment application for summer and fall. New students will be able to apply for summer. REMINDER: If you want to stay for summer and fall, you must complete a summer application first and then a fall application.
  February 16, 2022	NA	2022-2023 Summer Tech Village Applications Open for New Students New housing students can start filling out their Tech Village apartment application for summer and fall.
  February 16, 2022	February 25, 2022	Current Tech Village Student Priority Ends Current students in Tech Village have until this date to receive priority for an assignment.  Please have your application(s) completed by then to receive priority. This is not a guarantee, just a priority.
  February 16, 2022	April 17, 2022	Room Selection for Current Students Begins Staff will reach out and make assignments for available Tech Village apartments.
  April 17, 2022	NA	Open Requests for Current Students Eligible students can reach out about Tech Village availability.
  May 1, 2022	NA	2022-2023 Fall Tech Village Applications Open for New Students New students, who are eligible, can reach out to reslife@tntech.edu to inquiry about any Tech Village vacancies.

Getting Assigned an Apartment ›

During the room selection period for Tech Village, staff will reach out and make assignments for available Tech Village apartments. You will receive a call or email about scheduling an assignment meeting to discuss vacancies and your contract.

Open Requests ›

After the room selection period for Tech Village has occurred and the students that have applied have been assigned an apartment, any other students wishing to reach out to inquire about vacancies can do so.
