Calling all FIRST Lego League VOLUNTEERS!!

FIRST LEGO League Super Powered logoThe FIRST Lego League East Tennessee Championship Tournament is Saturday, February 11 in the Memorial Gym.  This year we are expecting 48 teams of middle school students to participate.  That means we need a lot of volunteers in order to make it a successful and positive experience for all those involved.  This is hard work, but I promise it will be fun and rewarding!  It's kind of like a carnival.  It just kind of springs up out of nowhere, everyone has a great time, and then it disappears until next year.  The kids are so happy and enthusiastic, it is contagious.  You will be amazed at what they can do and by the expressions on their faces.

In order to volunteer, you must create an account in the Volunteer Management System of the FIRST organization.  Returning volunteers can simply log into the account that was created previously.  The link below can be used to access this site for either a new or a returning volunteer.  You will be required to volunteer for a specific event.  Please choose "East TN FLL Championship" from the drop-down menu of choices.

Volunteer

Most volunteers are required to check-in at volunteer registration (at the Memorial Gym) between 7 and 8 a.m.  Additional information about your role in the event will be provided via e-mail.  If you are a first time volunteer you will receive a volunteer T-shirt and for those working on Saturday you will also receive lunch at the TTU Marketplace (if you do not already have a meal plan).  If you are a returning volunteer, please wear the volunteer T-shirt that you received previously.

I will be happy to provide documentation of this activity to any appropriate person.  This can be counted for community service and/or volunteer work.  Let me know the particulars and I will be happy to provide what you need.

I look forward to meeting each one of you and seeing you at the tournament.

Dr. Kris Craven, Tournament Director
