    Explorations in Engineering Summer Camp

    College of Engineering seeks education majors to serve as summer camp counselors!

    The College of Engineering is looking for juniors and seniors in the Teacher Education program to serve as Camp Counselors for its two, three-day residential summer camps for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. The camp, Explorations in Engineering, will be held June 11-14 and July 9-12, 2023. Counselors will be paid $10 per hour.

    In the Explorations in Engineering summer camp, campers learn about engineering, computing, and engineering technology while engaging in hands-on projects, taught by our engaging faculty members. Campers spend three nights in a Tennessee Tech dormitory, experiencing a college-like schedule and experiencing college life. 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Engineering knowledge is NOT required for these Camp Counselor positions. Camp Counselors are paired with Engineering Student Mentors to support camp operations.
    • Camp Counselors are expected to safeguard the safety, health, and wellbeing of minors on campus, supervise their activities, and ensure that all policies are met and procedures followed. Students serving in this role must be equipped with the proper training and experience with supervising minors in an educational setting.
    • Previous classroom experience preferred.
    • Background checks are required.
    •  Training will be provided.

    STEM Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA)

    The American Geosciences Institute and ExxonMobil is hosting the AGI STEM Teaching and Learning Academy this summer in Atlanta, GA. This academy will build on AGI's long-standing expertise and extensive resources in geoscience education and is designed for teachers who have recently entered Earth and space science teaching roles. There will be two sessions of the TLA this year: an elementary school TLA on July 16-19 and middle school TLA on July 19-22.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

    Mastery Hour Math Tutoring (Volunteer)

    MasteryHour.org is a non-profit project which provides free math tutoring to K-12th grade children via zoom.  We were founded during the pandemic and have found there's still a huge, ongoing need to help students catch up in math. They are currently seeking more student volunteers to assist children who are struggling to catch up on learning due to the pandemic.
