Alumni Feature: Maya Johnson
Hi, I’m Maya Johnson. I’ve recently graduated Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus on Microbiology. The Biology Department at Tech gave me a warm and encouraging environment that offered me opportunities to be involved in an array of clubs, become a teaching assistant for labs, join a research project on small colony variants in Staphylococcus aureus, and more.
Through the wonderful relationships I’ve developed during my time here, I gained the opportunity to lead my own research project over the summer at Auburn University and present at two national conferences: SCICB and ASBMB.
Now, I’ve been accepted in the PhD program under the Biological Sciences Department at Auburn University starting Fall 2022. Join the Biology Department at Tennessee Tech and see what you can accomplish!
