Dr. Brad Cohen Receives 2024 CAS Award for Research and Scholarly Activity
Dr. Brad Cohen of the Biology Department is the recipient of the 2024 College of Arts & Sciences Award for Research and Scholarly Activity. Dr. Cohen is recognized for the paper, “Citizen science reveals waterfowl responses to extreme winter weather” that appeared in the journal Global Change Biology. In that publication, Dr. Cohen’s lab (with his PhD student Nick Masto as lead author) and collaborators from Cornell University, Ducks Unlimited, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and TWRA showed the value of citizen science data for monitoring responses of migratory birds to extreme climactic events and for guiding conservation policy and management in these populations. The paper can be read on the Global Change Biology website.
