Writing Excellence Studio @ Tech (WEST)

The Writing Excellence Studio @ Tech (WEST) offers one-on-one writing consultation for upper-level students, graduate students, and faculty/staff of all disciplines. We also offer custom workshops and training sessions designed for the requesting discipline, program, class, or group. Due to Covid-19, all WEST appointments this semester will be online, synchronous appointments, using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

WEST aims to help writers develop as writers. We are not a proofreading or editing service, nor will we "fix" your paper for you. While we are happy to help with grammar, language, citation, and other issues, our primary agenda will be to help develop your larger skills as a writer. Consultations will be interactive, with both writer and consultant playing active roles in a conversation about the piece of writing.

We welcome writing at all stages, from brainstorming or early drafts to polished full drafts. Our consultants will be happy to help you talk about your writing, regardless of how "finished" it may be.

Appointments are 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the length of the writing involved. For a paper shorter than 6 pages, we recommend 30 minutes. For something longer, we recommend 60 minutes.
